Ryan Washington, certified nursing assistant, 5 South, Blessing Hospital, received the hospital’s 33rd Honey Bee Award during a presentation on July 30.
The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the remarkable patient experience delivered by support staff employees.
Ryan was nominated by the father of a patient to whom he provided care. The nomination read, in part: “Ryan came to the room and said that he would be our CNA for the night. He was quick to observe that my son has cerebral palsy that affects both his mental and physical development. Ryan proceeded to state his experience as a CNA with special attention given to the time he worked at state institutions in Missouri. My comfort and confidence levels soared, finally meeting a caregiver with that particular level of experience for patients with special needs.”
“Ryan showed tremendous compassion and patience with my son, almost as if he spoke his language. Ryan is a great resource for Blessing patients who are special needs. May he continue to serve the area for many years to come,” the nomination concluded.
Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital or access it online here.
