Blessing Hospital’s Respiratory Care team selected Ellen “Desiree” Singh, registered respiratory therapist, weekends/night shift, as the department’s 2021 Excellence Award winner during national respiratory care week.
Two of Desiree’s coworkers submitted nomination on her behalf. They read, in part:
“Dez is a great preceptor. She has oriented and trained many new RTs over the years, myself included. I learned a great deal from her when I was a new grad. I attribute much of the development of my critical thinking skills to her and our times spent as weekenders. She would make a habit to have me come to the ER with her for any learning opportunity and experience and she continues to do that with new hires to this day.”
“Over the past year we have experienced some trying times – emotionally, physically and mentally. We have seen tragedy and sadness every shift and have given it our all fighting COVID and its effects on our patients. Having people like Desiree is how we get through it. She has a way of lifting our spirit and morale and reminding us that we are in this together.”
Other respiratory therapists nominated for the 2021 Excellence Award were Teddie Mays, Beth Pickens, Amy Terstriep and Teresa Ashley.
