Laura Sethaler, registered respiratory therapist, received Blessing Hospital’s 38th Honey Bee award during a presentation on December 28, 2021.The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the service provided by support staff.

The wife of a patient hospitalized for 19 days due to COVID submitted the following nomination. Laura was the first respiratory therapist assigned to the man’s care team:

“She was with him for the first three days, and his most critical days…He thought of her as a coach - pushing him, giving him advice on breathing techniques and checking in on him even on days she might not be assigned to his floor or care. She, in his words, ‘saved’ him.”

“He could have easily given up hope because I, unfortunately for the first seven days of his stay, was in quarantine. Laura kept him grounded, calm and focused until I could get there, and also kept him focused on getting back home to his two boys.”

“She gave him 100%, but most definitely pushed him to give 100% of himself in his healing. Laura is an amazing respiratory therapist and a tremendous person. We are forever changed by her compassion, love of her job and determination to get him well and home.”

Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital.
