Even when John Cooley was working full-time, he was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital. He’s retired from the workforce, but not from the volunteer force. The patients keep him coming back.
“I found a place I really felt I was needed and really enjoyed being there. Patients are always so grateful. Before COVID, I’d get a hug from a patient now and then. They say, ‘We appreciate what you are doing.’ I answer that we wouldn’t be doing this if we didn’t enjoy it. Everyone in this hospital enjoys helping patients. That’s our goal.”
