Buffy Scheu, Certified Medical Assistant, Office OB GYN, received Who’s Your Angel nominations from fellow employee and patient, Mackenzie Leckbee and Mackenzie’s mother, Tina Powell. The Foundation Office presented the Who’s Your Angel award on October 10. Buffy was nominated for her assistance to Mackenize in helping her get the care she needed in an emergency situation.
Mackenzie stated, “I ended up having an 8 cm cyst on my ovary which was torsion and hemorrhaged, as well as my fallopian tube. I whole heartedly believe Buffy saved me and it was something I will never forget because of her simple kindness and caring heart. She will forever be special to me!”
Tina stated, “Buffy was polite, professional, and empathetic. I could tell she was doing everything she could from her end while calming me. She was truly our little angel that sent an amazing doctor, that took care of my girl. Yes, I was a wreck worrying about my 28-year-old. Buffy was the reason I stayed safe! Thank you, Buffy!”
The “Who’s Your Angel” program is an opportunity for patients and their families to express their appreciation to anyone in the Health System who had a positive influence in their healthcare experience. When the donor makes a financial gift of any size in the name of the employee and writes up a story sharing the experience, the Foundation deposits the gift to the patient care area or restricted fund that most closely matches the employee(s) being honored or the reason for the patient’s time with the Health System. This donation was deposited to the Blessed Beginnings Fund. One hundred percent of Foundation gifts are designated to caring for patients in need.
Any staff member can be nominated for a Who’s Your Angel award, and nomination forms can be found in a surplus of Health System departments from Palmyra to Hannibal, Pittsfield, to Golden and more!
