Registrations are now being taken for a no-cost cholesterol screening sponsored by Blessing Health. It will be held on Wednesday, June 26, from 7-9 am at the Blessing Resource Center, 420 N. 34th Street, Quincy.
An appointment and a 12-hour fast before the test are required to participate. Visit events.blessinghealth.org and search “cholesterol”. After selecting the proper page, click the blue Register button at the top right of the screen, or call 217.277.5000 or stop by the Blessing Resource Center to register.
The screening will measure levels of the following in the blood:
- LDL, sometimes called “bad” cholesterol
- HDL, sometimes called “good” cholesterol
- total cholesterol
- triglycerides (fat)
- blood glucose (sugar)
The results of a cholesterol test are part of the information needed to determine a person’s current heart health status and future risk for heart disease and diabetes.
