Sam Overton, respiratory therapist, earned Blessing Hospital’s 69th Honey Bee award during a surprise presentation on June 19. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.
Sam was nominated by a family member of a patient to whom she provided care. The nomination read, in part:
“Sam came in to perform an EEG on my 81-year-old mother, and she did so much more. My mom was on day four in the hospital and I asked if she could brush her teeth. Sam immediately stepped up and went above and beyond what her position called for. She washed my mom’s hair, helped her brush her teeth, changed her brief and bedding, cleaned her, and got her settled.
Sam did all of this with empathy, kindness, and a smile. It truly touched my heart and brought me to tears. Thank you, Sam, for going out of your way to offer such compassion to my mother!”
Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units at Blessing Hospital.
