In the photo, Kelsey Steffen (right), receives her Honey Bee award from Rob Ritchey, administrative director, Blessing Health System pharmacy and materials management.

Kelsey Steffen, lead pharmacy tech II, retail pharmacy, earned the 71st Honey Bee award during a presentation on August 26. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.

Kelsey works with the hospital’s “Meds to Beds” program, getting patients who use the Blessing Hospital retail pharmacy their medications. She was nominated by a nurse. The nomination read, in part:

“Kelsey was instrumental in creating and implementing our very effective “Meds to Beds” program. Not only does she know the system backward and forward, she is also incredibly effective at troubleshooting any issues related to the process. Kelsey has relieved the worry over prescription refills for patients throughout the health system and they may never see the lengths she goes to in order to make that happen.

I’ve never received anything but a “Yes, I can help you,” from Kelsey. While she is vital to the processes related to the pharmacy, the thing that really stands out about her is her compassion, care and bedside manner with our patients.

Without support staff like Kelsey, our health system wouldn’t run the way it does. I am particularly grateful to have her on my team, and even when patients don’t see the extent of her efforts, I do every single time.”

Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units at Blessing Hospital.
