About Me
Quincy native Lucas Hugenberg improving the health of our communities one patient at a time.
“I like to see the progress we can make together. I delve in to what is making them sick and find a way to help. I enjoy seeing patients get better, leave the hospital and continue to enjoy their lives.”
After doing that at Blessing Hospital as a bedside registered nurse, Lucas decided to expand his ability to help by earning his doctorate degree and becoming a nurse practitioner.
“As a bedside nurse I was implementing treatment plans. I grew to want to assist doctors in developing the treatment plans for patients and help improve lives in that way. The nurse practitioner role allows me to have a different type of impact.”
Lucas’s reward comes when a patient or a patient’s family member thanks him for the care he provided.
“It’s reassuring, telling me that I am in the right profession and doing the right thing for my patients.”
Lucas also serves in another way – as a captain in the Illinois Army National Guard.
In his spare time, this husband and father enjoys hunting, trapshooting, yard work and gardening and helping on the family farm.
