Brandon Ross, driver, Denman Linen Service, received the ICARE Excellence Award during a ceremony on December 11, 2024.
He works one-on-one with Carle Health employees in Champaign, Illinois, to unload and load his semi-trailer. Whether it’s snowing, raining or hot – he is always respectful, hard-working, and polite. Brandon is also all those things when the elevator is not working at Carle Health!
His nomination related the following story of on-the-job excellence:
“Brandon delivers around 40 carts each run to Carle Hospital. The drive is six-hours round-trip, with two hours of loading and unloading.
Because the hospital does not have a truck dock, Brandon takes 6-8 carts of clean linen at a time up the freight elevator, and the same number of carts of soiled linen down the same elevator. That’s 5-6 trips each visit.
When the freight elevator is not working, Brandon has to use the patient/employee elevator, which accommodates only two carts going up and two carts going down at a time. That’s 20 trips each visit.
The following message was received from Christie Haley, Linen Coordinator at Carle Foundation Hospital:
‘Hey, do you guys have an employee recognition program of some kind? Brandon deserves one! Our elevator was down again, and we want to say how much we appreciate his patience and hard work.’
This is one of many examples of Brandon going the extra mile, maintaining a positive attitude, and providing exceptional service.”
Blessing Health employees nominate their peers for an ICARE award based on their demonstration of any one – or all – of the Blessing Values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
