Trudy Baze, unit secretary, Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU), Blessing Hospital, retires December 31, 2024, after 16 years of service.
She originally joined the Blessing Hospital staff in 1993 from the former St. Mary Hospital where she worked for 13 years. Baze left Blessing Hospital for five years to pursue other opportunities, rejoining the staff in December 2008.
A nationally certified unit secretary, Baze worked on two medical surgical floors during her career at Blessing before joining SNU for the last 16 years.
Baze’s career as a unit secretary began unexpectedly.
“When I got the call wanting to know if I was interested in being a unit secretary, I did not know what the position was,” she recalled. “I read the job description and thought I would like trying it. I have loved what I have been doing for years.”
“What I enjoyed most was helping nurses, nurses aides, physicians, nurse practitioners and the manager with problem solving,” she concluded.
Baze and her husband, John, have three daughters, for whom she served as a girl scout leader for five years when they were younger; Stephanie Miller of Fowler, Laura Dieker of Plainville, and Nikki Klauser of Mendon. Baze also has a brother, Tony Warner of Quincy.
