Progressive Care Unit CNA Amber Hudnut clocked out after work, but did not go home as most employees would. On this day she went to the bedside of a dying patient. That act of compassion earned her the 77th Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award, presented during a surprise ceremony on February 12. The Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.
Amber was nominated by a PCU coworker who wrote: “Amber clocked out and went to sit with a patient who was waiting on family to get here before we put the patient on comfort care.
The patient had been on PCU 18 days and pulled on the heart strings of the entire unit. Amber didn’t hesitate or think of hurrying home after her 12-hour shift. Instead she pulled up a chair and held the hand of a patient to give them comfort in possibly the last few hours of their life.
PCU is lucky to have a CNA like Amber.”
As was this patient, their family, Blessing Hospital and the communities it serves. Thank you, Amber.
