Blessing Health System has launched an 18-month project to bring a new electronic health record (EHR) to its patients and providers. The new EHR will ensure the delivery of top-quality care by streamlining Blessing’s clinical and operational workflows under a single system.

“Epic will enable seamless information sharing across our health system and will support more informed, coordinated and personalized care for each of our patients,” said Christopher Solaro, MD, PhD, CPE, Chief Medical Officer, Blessing Health.

The Epic EHR will allow Blessing providers to see patients’ comprehensive health record in real time. This includes care the patient has received from any other provider who also uses the Epic platform in any organization anywhere in the country, in addition to care received from Blessing Health System providers. Epic is used by thousands of hospitals and clinics and more than a half-million physicians across the country.

Epic’s benefits of improved continuity and coordination enhance safety and quality by reducing the chance of duplication of testing and of potential for error through better awareness of the totality of the patient’s care.

Epic also offers user-friendly patient portal and scheduling functions. Two-hundred-and-eighty million patients are on Epic nationwide.

“Through the exceptional features of the Epic EHR, we look forward to fostering a more collaborative and transparent healthcare experience for every patient we see and to providing them with easier access to their health information,” Dr. Solaro concluded.

The Epic EHR has been ranked number one in the nation for 15 years in a row. It is used by 21-hundred hospitals across the country, including all 20 of the top hospitals from US News & World Report’s latest rankings and 77 percent of the nation’s top hospitals for quality and safety. It is also used in 65,000 clinics nationwide by more than 570,000 physicians. Over 90 percent of medical students and residents train on Epic.

Additionally, the Epic EHR features will bring a new level of efficiency to the operational and business-related functions that support Blessing’s clinical care and patients.

The Epic EHR is scheduled to go live throughout Blessing Health System on March 21, 2026.
