Carolyn Bailey, Administrative Director, Risk Management, Blessing Health System, received the 2017 Illinois Healthcare Risk Manager of the Year award from the Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management.

The award was created to recognize a deserving Illinois risk manager for achievement and contribution in healthcare risk management.  In addition the award is designed to increase public awareness of the scope and importance of the field of healthcare risk management. 

The state winner was selected based on written nomination and the award was presented at the Annual Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management Program at the Embassy Suites, Peoria, IL.

In her role Bailey is responsible for coordination of risk management activities across the health system focusing on patient and employee safety, identification and management of risks and potential exposures, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal statutes, and providing oversight of corporate insurance claims, grievances and infection prevention. 

Bailey has served in her current role at Blessing since 2008.  She is a certified professional healthcare risk manager (CPHRM) and certified healthcare safety professional (CHSP). Baily is a graduate of Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX, and has attended graduate courses at Webster University, St. Louis.

In addition to the Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management, Bailey is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society, American Society of Professionals and Patient Safety and Quincy Area Safety Council.
