Bobbi Calkins wanted to help people but did not feel she was reaching her goal working in the field of corrections. So, she set her sights on working in behavioral health care at Blessing Hospital.

“I thought this would be a good place to work, I would be closer to the patients,” Bobbi said.

She has been a psychiatric technician at the Blessing Behavioral Center for five years now and on February 28 received the Hospital’s monthly Honey Bee Award based on a nomination by one of her former patients.

“Bobbi was very helpful, kind and friendly. She went above and beyond to help people. Bobbi, always gave people the chance to talk about things that were bothering them. She would sit and listen, then she would give advice on what to do or tell you your options,” the nomination read.

“Bobbi has done groups that have been very helpful on coping skills, goal setting, and how to reach your goals,” the nomination concluded.

The Blessing Behavioral Center is looking for more people like Bobbi to join its team.  Open interviews for psychiatric technicians will be held Friday, March 6, from 9 am to Noon. Those interested in being considered are asked to come to the Blessing Hospital Main Lobby at 11th and Spring Streets anytime between 9 am and Noon with a copy of their resume.

Psych techs work with patients of all ages through hands-on delivery of care, communication, teamwork, and role modeling. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and good verbal communications skills. No license, certification or special requirements are required.
