QUINCY, Illinois (April 19, 2020) -- Today, Sunday, April 19, the first death of an area resident who died of medical conditions complicated by COVID-19 occurred at Blessing Hospital. The individual is a resident of Lewis County, MO and a person in their 80’s to 90’s.
“The Blessing Health System team is saddened by the loss of a Tristate resident to COVID-19. We express our deepest and sincerest sympathy to the patient’s family,” said Maureen Kahn, President/CEO, Blessing Health System. "We continue to call upon our communities’ help to flatten the curve to slow spread of this disease. We urge you to stay home as much as possible and practice social distancing with vigor. The lives of our families, neighbors and healthcare workers are at stake, and we must each do our part. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”
All residents must continue to protect their health and the health of others, especially our vulnerable populations and those with chronic health conditions.
