Lindsay Carman, ultrasonographer, Non-Invasive Cardiology, Blessing Hospital, has earned Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RSC) status from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

Among the requirements for certification are performance of 600 cardiac ultrasound studies, a letter of support from the department medical director and passage of a written examination.

Carman holds a master’s degree in kinesiology-exercise physiology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and a bachelor’s degree in health and human physiology from the University of Iowa.

A cardiac ultrasound study uses sound waves to create pictures of the heart’s chambers, valves, walls and the blood vessels attached the heart to determine the heart’s structure and check how well it is functioning.
