Denise Sangoi, occupational therapist, Rehabilitation Services, became the hospital’s 30th Honey Bee Award winner during a presentation on April 26.
The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the remarkable patient experience delivered by support staff employees.
Denise earned the award based on the nomination of a patient’s wife after her husband experienced two strokes weeks apart. The nomination read in part, “Denise has worked closely with my husband. When he was ready to come home she helped us with moving him from the bed to the wheelchair back to the bed, to the toilet and back to bed. Even when I didn’t think I could do it she was giving me and my husband the encouragement to know that we can do this.”
“I honestly don’t know what or where he would be right now in his recovery if it wasn’t for Denise and her patience because my husband can be stubborn at times, I don’t think he would be where he is right now in his recovery,” the nomination continued.
“Denise will have a special place in my heart forever because of the help with my husband and how she treated him and I like family while he was in the hospital. She was definitely an angel sent from above to help me with my husband,” the nomination concluded.
Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital.
