Patients can now make a request online for their medical records from Blessing Health System providers by going to blessinghealth.org/patients/request-medical-records directly, or visiting blessinghealth.org, clicking “For Patients” from the top banner on the home page and then clicking “Request Medical Records Learn More” from the For Patients page.

The online process takes no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. The person making the request needs to submit a photo of their driver’s license with a webcam or smartphone and can choose to receive a confirmation email at the successful conclusion of the online request process.

Previously, patients had to come into a Blessing facility to make a medical records request in person, or print the medical records authorization form off the health system website and mail it, fax it or scan and email it. Patients can still use these options if they wish.

The online process provides more flexibility for the patient as the request can be made from anywhere at any time.

“We are getting positive feedback about the new online medical records request option,” said Laura Triplett, director, Health Information Management, Blessing Health System. “The majority of users have told us it is a really easy tool to use.”

Blessing Health System addressed 31,000 medical records request last year.
