About Me
A native of Carthage, Illinois, Nicki’s interest in science and the example she saw in her mother led her to a career in medicine.
“My mom was a nurse. And there are so many paths you can take in nursing, it gives you a lot of options.”
Nicki’s path led her to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and to later continue her education and become a nurse practitioner.
She is nationally board certified in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. Since 2009, Nicki has worked in emergency/urgent care medicine.
“I enjoy providing this type of care because I can see someone with a problem and I can make a tangible difference in their lives relatively quickly.”
And her patients make a difference in Nicki’s life, too.
“Early on in my nurse practitioner career, I saw a patient who received a bad diagnosis, but ultimately had a good outcome. Each time I saw her after treatment, she would go out of her way to thank me. Seeing the difference you made for someone, it makes it all worthwhile.”
