Members of the Blessing Hospital School of Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) Class of 2017 received their certificates and school pins during a graduation ceremony held Friday, August 11, 2017.

Members of the class were Candace S. Huckstep of Hull, IL; Emily Renee Ehrhardt of Barry, IL and Lydia Harshbarger of Keokuk, IA. Ehrhardt received the Class of 2017 Clinical and Academic Excellence awards

Blessing Hospital has sponsored a MLT program since 1962. Students enter the 13-month program after completion of required college prerequisite courses. The curriculum consists of blending the theory of Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology and Blood Banking with practical clinical laboratory experience. Blessing Hospital School of Medical Laboratory Technicians is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

Graduates are eligible for national certification as an MLT by the Board of Certification, American Society of Clinical Pathology. MLTs perform laboratory tests on biologic specimens.
