Katie Hildebrand, RN, 6 North general medical/oncology, became the 87th Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY award during a ceremony on August 29, 2023.

The nomination from a former patient read, in part:
“I was diagnosed with pneumonia, A-Fib, and congestive heart failure. Katie has made this difficult time easier for me to accept.
One of the first qualities I noticed about Katie was her innate ability to share care and concern for others along with a robust boost of positive energy. She went out of her way to explain any new meds I may be receiving, what it is for and the side effects.
Katie stands out above and beyond a great group of RNs at Blessing.”

DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year-old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day. More than 5,400 healthcare providers and nursing education programs worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program. DAISY award nomination forms are located on all nursing units throughout Blessing Hospital and on the internet at blessinghealth.org/recognize.
