Daffany Pugh, RN, Child and Adolescent Unit, became the 103rd Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY award during a ceremony on December 13, 2024, for her extraordinary nursing care.
Daffany was nominated by two patients, one of whom said:
“I would like to give this Daisy Award to Daffany because she makes me feel special. She wants to make me feel like there is something still good in the world, something worth living for. I would like to thank Daffany for being there and making me happy.”
The other patient said in their nomination of Daffany:
“While being admitted to the hospital I was very anxious. Daffany provided comfort during those times I struggled. She is an amazing nurse that goes above and beyond with her patients. She has the “can do” attitude and she is a great person to be around, with a great attitude and is friendly. Even when I was sad, Daffany was able to make me smile. Thank you for helping me while I was in crisis.”
DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year-old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day. More than 5,400 healthcare providers and nursing education programs worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.
DAISY award nomination forms are located on all nursing units throughout Blessing Hospital and on the internet at blessinghealth.org/recognize.
