At the Jackson Lincoln Swimming Complex 3rd Annual Memorial Ben Bumbry Banquet on Friday, March 22, Blessing Health System presented pool management with a check for $14,391.63 to replace the large pump for the pool and to fund 2019 Family Swim Nights.

The pump system went out the end of July 2018, and after some evaluation, it was determined that it would need to be replaced. Blessing Health System offered to help with those costs to alleviate the financial burden for the Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex.

Blessing also sponsors a weekly “Family Swim Night” at the pool on North 8th Street each summer. Providing free access to the pool and dinner for all who attend each Family Swim Night costs Blessing $6,000 each summer.

“We are proud to play a role in keeping the pool a vital part of life for youngsters and families on Quincy’s northside,” said Patrick Gerveler, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Blessing Health System. “Blessing has been a part of Quincy’s northside neighborhood for more than 140 years, and our Early Learning Center students use the pool each summer.”

The annual banquet honored the work and memory of the late Ben Bumbry, longtime executive director of the Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex.
