Blessing Home Care offers free exercise programs for people with Parkinson’s disease each Monday and Wednesday at 10 am at the Blessing Wellness Center, 4917 Oak Street in Quincy.
The Monday class, called “BIG for Life,” is for people with Parkinson’s disease who have completed the LSVT BIG program. LSVT BIG is a doctor-ordered physical therapy program during which people with Parkinson’s learn different ways to move that compensate for the effects of the disease on their nerve cells.
The Wednesday class, called Be Well with Parkinson, is an exercise class for any person with Parkinson’s disease. People with Parkinson’s experience difficulty with balance and coordination, and suffer stiffness in the limbs and trunk of the body.
While each course is free, weekly registration is required because class size is limited. Register for either class by calling Blessing Home Care, 217-223-8400, ext. 4910.
Caregivers are welcome to attend classes to assist the patient with their exercises if needed.
