Blessing Hospital has retained its national accreditation from DNV GL-Healthcare, effective through June 2023, with an additional, first-time certification.

DNV GL is a world-leading certification body. Within healthcare, the company helps providers achieve excellence by improving quality and patient safety through hospital accreditation, managing infection risk, management system certification and training.

By retaining its accreditation, Blessing Hospital demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards, also known as Conditions of Participation, set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

In addition to retaining accreditation, for the first time Blessing Hospital has received ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification. ISO 9001 is the world’s most trusted quality management system used by performance-driven organizations around the world to advance their quality and sustainability objectives. DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 quality management system standards with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

“Accreditation for meeting federal Conditions of Participation is a must-have for every hospital in this country,” said Maureen Kahn, RN, MHA, MSN, president and chief executive officer, Blessing Health System and Blessing Hospital.  “By partnering with DNV GL-Healthcare for our accreditation process, Blessing Hospital added more value to this process for the communities we serve by the integration ISO 9001 quality standards with our health care and business processes. “

“We are demonstrating to our communities that the care and service we deliver to them daily meets or exceeds accepted international quality standards. Not every hospital takes that extra step,” Kahn concluded.

DNV GL’s accreditation program involves annual hospital surveys – instead of every three years – to help hospitals continuously identify opportunities for improvement in clinical workflows and safety protocols.
