Blessing Health System has initiated a national search for its next Chief Executive Officer. Tim Tranor, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president/chief operating officer/chief nursing officer, has been leading the health system since Brian Canfield stepped down from the President/Chief Executive Officer position in mid-April. The search is expected to take five-to-six months.

Blessing’s board has engaged Furst Group - a national healthcare executive search firm with 40 years’ experience to lead the process, centered on continuity of care, community stewardship, alignment with Blessing’s mission, vision and values, and its strategic priority to remain independent.

“Because our patients, the communities we serve and our staff deserve the strongest possible leader, we will evaluate local, regional, and national talent through a fair, confidential process to ensure we choose the best fit for Blessing’s future,” said Gary Gillespie, chairman, Board of Trustees, Blessing Corporate Services.

“The Board’s strategic priority is to remain independent while strengthening high-quality care close to home,” he continued. “We see the qualities and qualifications for our next CEO to be a mission-driven, community-focused leader with a track record in community health; strategic growth; operational excellence; physician and staff engagement; quality and access; and financial stewardship.”

Gillespie added Furst Group will begin the process with gathering input to help identify the characteristics, skills and experiences being sought in the new CEO. Internally, this will include members of the Blessing Boards, employee leadership, and medical staff.  Externally, they will be talking with large employers, non-profit organizations, schools, civic leadership, and healthcare partners.
