Connie Scott, MS, RN, NEA-BC, Administrative Director, Specialty Care Services, Blessing Hospital, has retired after 45 years of service.
A 1972 graduate of Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Scott went on to earn Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from Quincy College and a Master degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Missouri School of Nursing.
Her career began in August 1972 as an evening shift staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit of St. Mary Hospital in Quincy. Scott worked at St. Mary for the next 21 years, earning promotions to Director of Critical Care and Clinical Director of Nursing Practice.
When Blessing purchased St. Mary in 1993, Scott joined nursing administration at Blessing, serving in roles including Interim Chief Nursing Officer and Administrative Director, Specialty Care Services, the position from which she retired.
A certified nursing executive, Scott is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and served in a number of leadership positions with the Illinois Organization of Nurse Executives, including president, treasurer and secretary. She is a charter member of the Pi Pi Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and served in a number of regional and local leadership roles with the organization including chapter president.
Scott’s community involvement during her career included serving on the boards of the YMCA, Lutheran Child and Family Services, John Wood Community College Health Care Advisory Board and Community Health Assessment Resource Team. In May 2000, Scott was named the YWCA Woman of Achievement for Professions.
Married to Greg, the couple have three children and eight grandchildren.
