Brenda Barton, MSN, RN, CCM, Clinical Risk Manager, Blessing Health System, recently received the Risk Manager of the Year award from the Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management (ISHRM) at its annual conference in June in Peoria. The ISHRM is a state chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
ISHRM accepts nominations of healthcare-related risk management professionals who have excelled in their roles and selects one recipient for this achievement award. Brenda was recognized for her passion, drive and accomplishments in the field of healthcare risk management and patient safety, and for her many contributions to a number of Blessing Health System process improvements. She has been a member of ISHRM for four years.
Brenda has worked in health care for over 35 years, the last 19 years as a registered nurse at Blessing. She became Clinical Risk Manager in 2020 after having worked in critical care, outpatient clinics and care coordination.
Brenda holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and an Associate Degree in Nursing from John Wood Community College. She also holds a Certification in Case Management from The Commission for Case manager Certification.
