Amy Land, social services case worker, Care Coordination, Blessing Hospital/Blessing Health Hannibal, earned the 70th Honey Bee award during a surprise presentation on July 24.

The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.
Amy was nominated by a team member who witnessed her acts of skill and compassion. 

The nomination read, in part: 
“Amy has always been so kind and consistently goes out of her way to exceed people’s expectations. While at Blessing Health Hannibal, I witnessed this first hand. I observed Amy walking with a bag in her hand and a woman sitting at a table also watching Amy walk towards her. As Amy got closer to the woman, the woman began to cry. I could hear Amy say, “We got it all taken care of.” The woman just cried with her hands on her face as Amy sat the bag in front of her and gave this woman all of her kindness and attention. I was in awe of the compassion and appreciation I had witnessed.


Amy is so knowledgeable regarding local resource. She took the initiative to manage the clinic’s sock program – always making sure every person that needs socks gets them! 

I had a patient who was unable to get funding for dentures so she offered them a whole box of Ensure and coupons. Amy’s heart is always in the right spot!

Amy touches the lives of so many people in the Hannibal area on a daily basis and not just in simple ways, but in ways that totally change individual lives.
She recently found a way for one of her patients to get medication she couldn’t afford and arranged samples for her to take until the source could kick in. The patient was so grateful and broke into tears. Without the medication, the patient would have ultimately been hospitalized.

The best part is Amy’s attitude – she doesn’t see what she does as a big deal. She sees it as her job and responsibility. Amy doesn’t even realize she’s changing lives and does it with amazing skill and dedication.”
