Dreston Brunk, CNA program graduate, earned Blessing Hospital’s 63rd Honey Bee award during a surprise presentation on November 30, 2023. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.

Dreston was nominated by a Blessing Hospital nurse for whom he provided care to their patient as a sitter. The nomination read in part: “This patient could be challenging to manage, as they were non-verbal, aggressive, and combative with staff. Dreston was absolutely phenomenal with this patient.

He took the time to learn about the patient’s needs and how to better communicate with this patient. He developed a great relationship with the patient and continuously went above and beyond for the patient. Dreston knew exactly how to handle this patient and how to calm the patient down.”

“Dreston even made suggestions to the nurses about how to give this patient the best care based on behaviors that he had observed.”
“I knew that my patient was in great hands with Dreston as the sitter. This allowed me the ability to get to other patient rooms.”

“I am so thankful for Dreston’s compassion and empathy. I know the patient was thankful for him, too. Although this patient couldn’t speak, it was very clear that he loved and appreciated Dreston,” the nomination concluded.
