Justin McDermott, risk management and patient relations specialist, received the 76th Honey Bee award during a presentation on January 30. The Blessing Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.
Justin was nominated by Progressive Care Unit staff for going above and beyond to help connect a patient with “Kermit” - the hospital’s online language translation system.
“After not getting the Kermit to go loud enough for our hearing-impaired Spanish speaking patient – Justin went and got a Bluetooth speaker that we could hook up to the tablet and turn the volume up louder. After taking care of that problem, Justin stuck around and called Maintenance to get the TV volume going through the call light so the patient could hear it better.
It was such a huge help and I know the patient appreciated it too!
