Jess Clark, RN, Emergency Center, became the 67th Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY Award during a ceremony on December 15, 2021.

Patients and their family members, visitors, doctors, hospital staff members or volunteers may recognize the extraordinary care provided by nurses through a DAISY award nomination.

Jess was nominated by a woman to whom she provided care after a vehicle accident. A ring the woman had on but needed to remove for treatment was misplaced. The nomination read, in part:

“When I got home I went through my bag with my clothes and my ring was not in there. I immediately called Blessing and they could not find it either. I was in tears. The ring was

special as my dad gave it to me and I had lost him to cancer four months earlier.

Jess went above and beyond, staying after her shift looking for my ring. She found it. I am so thankful for what Jess did for me. I would have been devastated if the ring was gone.

I thank Jess from the bottom of my heart”.

DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year-old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day. More than 4,800 healthcare providers worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.
