Carthage, IL (HANCOCK COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT) - June 1, 2020, the Hancock County Health Department and Memorial Hospital have received notification from Blessing Hospital of the first death of a Hancock County resident who died of medical conditions complicated by COVID-19. The individual was in their 60’s to 70’s and passed away on Sunday, May 31 at Blessing Hospital.
The Hancock County Health Department was saddened to hear about the death of the Hancock County resident. "We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers that knew the individual." said Amy Hall, Hancock County Health Department's Administrator.
COVID-19 cases continue to circulate, therefore, Hancock County residents must not let their guard down. People must continue to protect their health and the health of others, especially those who are most vulnerable and those with chronic health conditions.
Currently, Hancock County has had seventeen positive cases of COVID-19. Sixteen of those patients have recovered.
