No one should go through a medical crisis alone. But that is just what one local resident faced after a devastating injury.
The person had suffered a brain injury while out of state. While they lived in the Tri-State area and returned home after treatment, the rest of their family – including the person’s power of attorney for healthcare – lived out of state.
Fortunately, the individual had a very smart friend who lives in the area. The friend was smart because they called the Blessing Resource Center for help and talked to Center representative Cassie Smith.

“I shared that the Resource Center had medical Power of Attorney forms available, if there was anyone locally who could assist the individual,” Cassie said.
The person with injury indicated they wanted the friend to become their Power of Attorney for Healthcare. The friend accepted the responsibility.
The two people gathered the necessary documents and came to the Resource Center to see Cassie. She helped them complete the Power of Attorney form, and to schedule an appointment with a primary care provider to begin the referral process for continued recovery from the brain injury.
“They were so grateful to have one place to turn for the answers they needed, to get an appointment scheduled and help requesting previous medical records,” Cassie concluded.
This is what exceptional care looks, sounds and feels like.
