Dena Heaston, certified occupational therapy assistant, Rehabilitation Services, earned Blessing Hospital’s 58th Honey Bee award during a surprise presentation on July 24, 2023. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.
A patient nominated Dena for her actions after the day’s therapy session. The nomination said, in part:
“I had been in the hospital for two weeks and hadn’t been outside my room. One day, after we finished my exercises, Dena took me to the Tea Room so I could find my significant other a card. Then, she took me to BH Java to get a drink. She also took me outside to get some fresh air. This gave me a wonderful day and the lift I needed.
“Every once in a while, during the course of a lifetime, you meet someone genuinely kind and giving. That person renews your faith in goodness of humanity. Dena is one such person.”
Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital.
