Dakota Nuyen, registered respiratory therapist, Blessing Hospital, received the 2024 RT Excellence award based on her nomination by a coworker Desiree Singh.
The departmental award is presented each year during National Respiratory Care Week.
The nomination of Dakota read, in part: “From the moment I met Dakota I was struck by her ability to connect with patients. She approaches each individual with compassion, taking the time to listen to their needs and make them feel truly cared for. It’s incredible to see how her presence can bring comfort to those going through tough times.
Dakota’s knowledge in respiratory care is truly exceptional. She consistently goes above and beyond, always excited to learn and incorporate new advancements into her practice.
Beyond her exceptional skills as a respiratory therapist, Dakota has a unique gift for
mentorship. She is always there to lend a hand or share her knowledge with new team members.
What I most admire about Dakota is her positivity and the way she brings joy to our workplace. Her dedication to the patients at Blessing hospital, and her coworkers, is inspiring.”
A registered respiratory therapist cares for people with breathing or heart and lung (cardiopulmonary) disorders. Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory care program in partnership with Quincy University and Culver-Stockton College.
