Jenny Sheely, social worker, Psychiatric Administration, received the hospital’s 35th Honey Bee Award during a presentation on September 1.

The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the service provided by support staff.

Jenny was nominated by a coworker for her ability to make True Human Connections, including with a patient with developmental disabilities who was having issues connecting with staff.

“Jenny made sure she took time every morning to visit with this patient and get to know what the patient liked and what made her happy,” the nomination read. “Within a few days, when Jenny entered the patient’s room, the patient’s face would immediately brighten and she would start smiling and get excited that Jenny was there to see her.”

“On several occasions when Jenny had a free moment during the day, rather than take a break, Jenny would go and sit with this patient and visit, and on one of the snowy days we had this winter, Jenny went outside and gathered up fresh snow in a bucket to bring in for the patient.  This was truly one of the most joyous days the patient had during her stay,” the nomination concluded.

Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital.
