Scotland County Hospital & Clinics, Memphis, MO, and Blessing Health System, Quincy, IL, are partnering to open a rural health clinic in Edina, MO. The clinic will be located in the former Jim Sears Technical Building on Highway 6, east of Edina, across from the Knox County School District.
The clinic is currently under renovation. It is expected to open in April 2020. Tabitha Rohr, family nurse practitioner with Scotland County Hospital, will provide care. In addition, select Blessing Health System specialists will see patients onsite and through computer-aided virtual visits.
The clinic will welcome new patients of all ages and accept most insurances. Same-day appointments and a walk-in service will be available.
Edina had been served previously by a clinic, owned by another provider in the region. In 2018, local residents Les and Kim Cardwell contacted the Chief Executive Officer of Scotland County Hospital asking consideration to open another medical clinic in Edina in the building that they own on Highway 6.
“Access to quality healthcare is critical for rural residents in northeast Missouri," said Randy Tobler, MD, FACOG, chief executive officer, Scotland County Hospital. “Mr. Cardwell is to be commended for his vision to bring another medical clinic in to Edina.”
“Blessing can also be commended for wanting to be part of this community partnership that has identified a way to improve access to healthcare in Knox County,” he added.
The medical clinic project in Edina is part of an ongoing collaboration that both Scotland County Hospital and Blessing Health System wish to expand in order to assist rural communities with healthcare and medical services close to home.
“Residents of northeast Missouri deserve convenient access to the healthcare they need,” said Maureen Kahn, RN, MHA, MSN, president/chief executive officer, Blessing Health System and Blessing Hospital. “Through this partnership with Scotland County Hospital we will share resources and expand the use of technology, allowing us to bring high quality primary and specialty healthcare to the people of Edina and surrounding communities with efficiency.”
Affiliates of Blessing Health System include Blessing Hospital and Blessing Physician Services based in Quincy, Illinois; Hannibal Clinic and its seven clinic locations throughout northeast Missouri, and Illini Community Hospital, Pittsfield, Illinois.
Scotland County Hospital owns and operates three other Rural Health Clinics in Wyaconda, Memphis and Lancaster.
