Quincy, IL – Blessing Health System President and CEO Maureen Kahn, RN, MHA, MSN, is issuing the following statement on the August 19 Illinois Health Facilities Planning and Review Board public hearing in Quincy:

"From the very start when we filed a Certificate of Need application to move the existing surgery center from its current location at a building owned by Quincy Medical Group to a new facility on the hospital grounds, we have sought to be completely transparent and open to the public about the project. We held a press conference on the day we filed our application and we have been conducting town hall style meetings throughout the community to show the public the plans for the new building and to field any questions they might have about the project.

Today’s public hearing was another opportunity for us to share our vision for the future of healthcare in Quincy. What we are asking for is simple - we want to relocate our existing surgery center to a new, modern facility owned by the Blessing Health System. Now that the Quincy Medical Group has been awarded its own surgery center, housing our center in a building owned by our competitor is not a viable option.

We appreciate everyone who took time to attend the hearing today and look forward to continuing to serve the people of Quincy with a relocated and modern surgery center in the future. At Blessing, our focus is always on patient care and we believe a relocated surgery center will help make healthcare more accessible and more affordable for the patients we serve."
