Quincy, IL – Blessing Health System President and CEO Maureen Kahn is issuing the following statement on today’s Health Facilities and Services Review Board decision to approve Blessing Hospital’s Certificate of Need application to relocate and modernize the current Ambulatory Surgery Center:
“We are pleased the Board has approved our project. The community has expressed the need for greater convenience and ease of access when needing healthcare, as well as choice. The relocation of the current ASTC will accomplish these objectives.”
“Once the surgery center relocation and modernization project is complete; patients will have the convenience of care with the security of being in close proximity to the Hospital. We look forward to the opportunity to better serve our patients,” Kahn concluded.
Blessing Hospital Board of Trustees President Julie Brink added, “This is an exciting time for the Hospital Board and staff as we evolve and enhance Quincy’s position as a regional medical hub.”
The relocated surgery center will be a stand-alone center in a two-story building, connected to the main Blessing Hospital building by a sky bridge. The nearly 36,000 square foot building will be constructed in the area that currently houses the physician parking lot. The area is bordered by Spring and 12th Street. Due to today’s approval, the target completion date remains January 2022.
