When Deb Landacre, RN, got a job in maternity at Blessing in 1980, she had a plan.

“I was only going to work for three months. I wanted a little Christmas money,” she said.

Today Deb continues to serve Blessing patients with the same passion as 40 years ago.

“It’s just everything,” she said of her career at Blessing.  “It’s my life. I loved working here.  I have made lifelong friends here.”

Deb spent most of her career in maternity and today serves the hospital and its patients as a Quality Management System Coordinator-RN in the Performance Excellence department.

She also recruited a couple of employees along the way. Deb’s daughter, Becky Walston, and her granddaughter, Ryleigh Walston, are Blessing Health System employees.

“I’ve grown up in Blessing,” Becky stated with a smile. “I went to Blessing Child Care when I was a baby. Blessing is all I have ever known. “

“What is really neat is I started out as a receptionist in Blessing Physician Services Orthopedics and Sports Medicine department a year-and-a-half ago and I recently accepted a position as a medical office assistant,” she concluded with pride.

Ryleigh is a high school senior with plans to attend Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences to become a nurse, just like her grandmother.  In the meantime, she works as a certified nursing assistant at Blessing Hospital.

“I get to carry on a family tradition,” Ryleigh stated.

“She’s always cared about people and she’s got the heart like my mom,” added Becky.

“It means a lot to me that Blessing means so much to them,” Deb concluded.
