Blessing Hospital was awarded an “A” grade from the Leapfrog Group in its spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade report. This national distinction recognizes the hospital’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. This data on which the spring grade is based was collected immediately prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Blessing also earned an A in the fall 2020 safety report.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. It assigns a safety grade of A through F every six months to the more than 2,700 general hospitals across the country. The grade is based on a hospital’s performance in up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data, including preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care. In the spring 2021 report, Blessing Hospital was among 33 percent of hospitals earning an “A” grade.  Twenty-four percent earned a B grade, 35 percent earned a C grade, 7 percent earned a D grade and less than 1 percent earned an F grade.

“Safety is a right and an expectation of every patient we treat,” said Maureen Kahn, RN, MHA, MSN, president/chief executive officer, Blessing Health System and Blessing Hospital. “We are pleased and proud to earn this important recognition from the prestigious Leapfrog Group, but the trust of our patients and their loved ones in the quality and the safety of the care we provide is the recognition for which our caregivers work every day, around the clock.”

“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
