Stormy Leazer, RN-Vascular Access Team, Radiology Vascular Access, received a Who’s Your Angel nomination from fellow employee Melissa Dewitt, Unit Secretary, Gen Med/Hospitalist/ODU. The Foundation Office presented the Who’s Your Angel award on April 29.
Melissa stated, “I met Stormy during one of my hospital stays in the past three and a half years. I have been put to sleep 18 times, with a very complicated health history. Between inpatient stays, surgery, IV treatments at the Blessing Infusion Center and working within the Blessing Health System I learned who I could count on to make my stays a bit easier.
Stormy truly cares for her patients and I love how dedicated she is. I know when Stormy is working that I am in good hands and that she will get IV access for me and that takes a lot less stress off of me, just knowing how knowledgeable she is. I just want to say thank you to Stormy so much, I appreciate you so much for everything you do. It takes a special person to continue to check on someone each and every time. It goes to show you really care about your patients.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! One day in August 2023 I was coming in to have my fourth open laparotomy surgery and Stormy and Cameron Morford were outside my room as I was arriving, waiting on me to get my access. It melted my heart as I am a horrible stick and have very few veins left. She goes above and beyond for me as her patient. I am truly thankful and it means so much to me!”
The “Who’s Your Angel” program is an opportunity for patients and their families to express their appreciation to anyone in the Health System who had a positive influence in their healthcare experience. When the donor makes a financial gift of any size in the name of the employee and writes up a story sharing the experience, the Foundation deposits the gift to the patient care area or restricted fund that most closely matches the employee(s) being honored or the reason for the patient’s time with the Health System. This donation was deposited to the Nurse Education Fund. One hundred percent of Foundation gifts are designated to caring for patients in need.
Any staff member can be nominated for a Who’s Your Angel award, and nomination forms can be found in a surplus of Health System departments from Palmyra to Hannibal, Pittsfield, to Golden and more!
