Jennifer Masker, RN, Women & Children unit, became the 62nd Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY Award during a ceremony on July 26, 2021.

Patients and their family members, visitors, doctors, hospital staff members or volunteers may recognize the extraordinary care provided by nurses by nominating them for a DAISY award.

Jennifer was nominated by a patient to whom she provided care.

“I am so thankful to have been under the care of nurse Jen. From the time she entered my room, it was evident that she was going to give me the care and compassion I needed prior to surgery the following morning. I felt at complete peace talking to her and she was extremely personable which is helpful when you don’t have a loved one that can stay with you over the evening hours,” the woman wrote.

“Jen was such an amazing nurse. She was always asking if there was anything she could get for me and was willing to talk with me for just a few more minutes even though I knew she probably had many other important things to do. She provided me great care, and for that I am truly grateful,” the nomination concluded.

DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year- old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day.  More than 4,800 healthcare providers worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.

DAISY award nominations forms are located on all nursing units throughout Blessing Hospital, and online here.
