CAREGIVER APPRECIATION: Dr. Nanjappa Somanna

Dr. Nanjappa Somanna deserves the who is your angel award. I am honored to be able to work with this man and call him a friend. What he did for my family is something we will never forget. He was our angel. My father had COVID-19 and ended up getting COVID pneumonia. He always used Quincy Medical Group doctors, but was admitted into Blessing Hospital. At Blessing they were talking about the possibility of intubating my Dad. I trust Dr. Somanna, his judgement, and his intelligence. I got a hold of Dr. Somanna in his office and he reached out to me on my personal cell phone. He talked with me and my sisters about possibilities with my father. He was given consent to look at my Dad’s chart. On his own time that day he went to the hospital and talked with my parents. He spent over an hour explaining everything with them. In the end my Dad decided to be transferred to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois where another one of my sisters lives to be closer to her. I will never forget the time Dr. Nanjappa Somanna spent with my sisters, my parents, and me talking about his care. He did not have to do that and did so on his own time. He was and is my angel on earth. Unfortunately, my Dad passed away a few weeks later. Dr. Somanna truly cares about individuals. I am proud to call him a friend and a colleague.

How To Nominate a "Blessing Angel":

  • Complete the online donation and nomination form located here.
  • When filling out the form you will select Who's Your Angel Nomination and then will be asked to tell us about your "Blessing Angel" and how they made a difference.  
  • Once your nomination is submitted and reviewed the "Blessing Angel" will be presented with a personalized certificate and angel pin to thank and recognize them for the exceptional care that they provided.
