• Expert Knowledge: Our imaging staff members are registered or licensed technologists with 2-4 years of training and often years of experience who have completed training specific to their specialty to make sure your safety and comfort is a top priority. Results are returned to the ordering physician within 48 hours for routine studies. The ordering physician’s office will have the results and supply them to the patient; they are also available on the patient portal.
• Quality: All imaging modalities use the latest technology and best training to ensure the highest quality imaging with the lowest impact to patients including reduction in time spent in MRI; lowest dose achievable with x-ray and CT equipment and staff trained to prioritize patient comfort and communication.
• National Accreditation: Blessing Hospital Diagnostic and Imaging has earned a three-year term of accreditation in 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) after a review by the American College of Radiology (ACR), earning the organization’s gold seal of accreditation representing the highest level of image quality and patient safety. 

Blessing Imaging Services

• Radiography and Fluoroscopy (X-ray) are forms of radiation that make images of bones, organs and other internal features. Fluoroscopy uses a continuous or pulsed X-ray beam to create moving images of working body structures. Learn more.
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) provides images of internal organs, blood vessels, muscles, joints, tumors, areas of infection, and more—without using any radiation. The excellent quality of MRI images provides early detection of many conditions so treatment can be more effective.  In many cases, MRI gives different information about structures in the body than can be seen with an X-ray, ultrasound, or computed tomography (CT) scan. • Computed Axial Tomography (CT Scan) is an X-ray technique that produces more detailed images of internal organs or bones than conventional X-ray. A CT is a form of x-ray combined with computer processing to create cross-sectional images of the body which can be used to help diagnose multiple diseases or injuries. Blessing has trained registered technologists and is ACR (American College of Radiology) or DMV-GL accredited. • Nuclear Medicine is a specialized area of imaging that uses very small amounts of radioactive material (isotopes) to examine organ function and structure. These materials may be injected through an IV. It is often used to diagnose and manage the treatment of cancer, heart disease, brain disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, lung disorders, bone disorders, kidney and thyroid disorders, and more. • Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images of the inside of your body. It is often used to help diagnose the cause of pain, swelling, or infection in internal organs or to examine a baby in utero. Doctors also use the technology to guide biopsies, diagnose heart conditions, or make assessments after a heart attack. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation. • Mammography is offered at multiple locations throughout the region including the Blessing Breast Center, Blessing Health Hannibal and Illini Community Hospital. It is an X-ray of the breasts performed to detect breast lumps when they are too small to be detected by physical examination. These small lumps can be the first finding of early-stage breast cancer. The Breast Center is equipped with both 2D and 3D digital mammography units, stereotactic breast biopsy equipment, and ultrasound. It also provides bone-density examinations. Learn more.
