Experience the Blessing Difference: Child and Adolescent Inpatient Behavioral Health
Coming to an inpatient unit can be a stressful and frightening experience for parents and children alike. We treat children and teens ages 5 through 18, who usually come to us because of a crisis situation at home or school. Our inpatient unit offers:
-
State-of-the-art facility: Our Child and Adolescent Services unit is part of Blessing’s new Moorman Pavilion. The 15-bed unit is designed with children in mind and includes:
-
Private or semi-private rooms, each with a private bathroom
-
Activity room for group programs and other activities
-
Day room, where children spend much of their time
-
Dining room, where everyone eats together
-
Indoor and outdoor recreational spaces, including a basketball court
-
Classroom for completing school assignments
-
Secure entrance and monitoring throughout
-
Snacks and comprehensive, engaging activities
-
-
Specialized staff: Blessing’s team includes 2 board-certified child psychiatrists and 7 inpatient therapists. Our staff of nurses helps coordinate each child’s care, which includes one-on-one therapy – including music therapy, pet therapy and group therapy. Learn more about our psychiatric staff.
-
Tutoring: A teacher from the Quincy public school system works with children each day, helping them complete homework assignments (we contact the school to get your child’s lessons). This way, your child will not fall behind during his/her stay with us.
-
Careful coordination of discharge and after-care: We work very closely with the family, the school and your child’s pediatrician and other therapists to coordinate discharge. We want to make sure your child has the support at home and in the community to be able to transition back to school. This planning includes making sure everyone is aware of the medication plan. We also try to schedule all follow-up appointments before your child leaves, so parents and teachers know the next step in the care plan.
-
Teresa Adams House: Parents traveling to Quincy to visit a child receiving treatment in the inpatient unit are welcome to stay at the Teresa Adams House

Visiting Children in the Inpatient Units
The inpatient unit is located at Moorman Pavilion, on Broadway at 11th Street.

For safety reasons, visitors must follow these guidelines:
- Only 2 visitors will be allowed at a time for each patient in the child and adolescent unit.

- All visitors must be approved by the child’s guardian and treatment team
- All visitors must leave their cell phones, keys, purse and all other personal belongings either in their vehicle or in the secure lockers just outside our units.
- All visitors will be screened with a metal detector (just like the airport) in order to provide safety within our inpatient units.
