Experience the Blessing Difference: Recovery After Surgery
At Blessing, your safety is our primary concern. After surgery, we monitor you closely as you begin your recovery to prevent complications and manage pain. During your time in our recovery room, you can expect:
-
Vital sign management: Our nurses keep a close eye on you as you come out of anesthesia. We monitor your breathing, temperature, blood pressure, alertness and ability to control voluntary movement. All these factors tell us how well you are recovering from surgery and the effects of anesthesia. We make sure you have no complications or adverse reactions before we discharge you.
-
Pain management: You may experience pain after surgery. Our expert nurses understand the balance between managing pain and recovering from anesthesia. We provide you with the correct level of pain relief to keep you comfortable after surgery.
-
Nausea relief: Anesthesia, fasting, and the surgery process can cause nausea. If you experience nausea, your nurse can provide medications and liquids to help you feel better.
-
Anesthesiologist discharge: An anesthesiologist is always available and on site to make sure you fully recover from the anesthesia before you go home. Your nurse provides you with instructions for your recovery at home and answers any questions.
Recovery After Discharge
We make every effort to help you return to your daily activities as soon as possible after surgery. Our postsurgical care includes:
-
Follow-up calls: Our nurses call you in the days following your surgery to see how you are doing and answer any questions. If you have any issues, we will address them.
-
Help getting back on your feet: If you need help at home after surgery, we can help. The Blessing Foundation helps qualified patients in many ways – from providing wheelchairs or ramps to babysitting or paying utility bills. If you need support while you recover from surgery, ask your care team how to access services through the Blessing Foundation.
