At the Blessing Diabetes Center, we bring many specialists together to offer our patients a full range of education and support, all in one place. With deep expertise and compassion, we help patients and families in our community navigate the healthcare maze after a diabetes diagnosis.

A Multidisciplinary Diabetes Care Team

You may feel overwhelmed by all that is involved in effective diabetes management. We are here to help. Once referred to the Blessing Diabetes Center, you will experience what “multidisciplinary care” means: Multiple specialists, in one place, with one goal—helping you live well with diabetes.

Our care team includes:

  • Nurses: Our nurses are often the first point of contact for new patients. As they take your history, they listen intently to discern your challenges and strengths. That information helps us make a treatment plan individualized and relevant to your circumstances. Many of our nurses are diabetes educators as well.

  • Diabetes educators: These healthcare professionals are experts in diabetes management. Through group and individual counseling and support groups, they help answer your most common questions and develop creative solutions to everyday struggles patients may face. Learn more about managing Type 2 diabetes.

  • Podiatrists: Our Blessing podiatrists hold regular foot care clinics at the Blessing Diabetes Center, where they conduct foot exams and educate patients on the importance of foot care. These clinics help you avoid diabetic foot ulcers and other diabetes complications. Learn more about diabetes foot care.

  • Dietitians: Medical nutrition therapy comes in many forms, and we offer a range of nutrition solutions for diabetes management. From cooking tips that work for your family’s lifestyle to determining achievable weight-loss goals, our dietitians help you eat a healthy, nutritious (and delicious) diet.

  • Pharmacists: With a pharmacist’s expertise, you can effectively manage the treatment of multiple health conditions, including high cholesterol or chronic kidney disease.

Diabetes Conditions We Treat

The Blessing Diabetes Center offers a range of treatment, education and support for:

  • Type 1 diabetes: This chronic autoimmune disease happens when the body doesn’t make enough (or any) insulin. See more about Type 1 diabetes.

  • Type 2 diabetes: If you have Type 2 diabetes, your body is not using insulin effectively. Doctors call this insulin resistance. Learn more about Type 2 diabetes.

  • Gestational diabetes: Gestational diabetes causes blood sugar levels to rise during pregnancy. Find out more about gestational diabetes.

  • Diabetic foot ulcers: Foot care is an important aspect of diabetes management. Learn more about diabetic foot ulcers and the importance of diabetes foot care.
